According to crackberry.com, the upcoming BlackBerry 9670 clamshell device will be released as the BlackBerry Style. Yep you heard correctly, the Style. Bit of a contradiction in my honest opinion. Did RIM hire Paris Hilton to name this one? Probably not but one does wonder who the genius was that came up with this name, I dare say it was the same person who decided on “Blackpad” as the BB tablet name.

As you have probably noticed by now, I’m not a fan of Clamshell devices as I firmly believe they should remain in the 1990′s. RIM would have been better off calling it the BlackBerry Retro or BlackBerry Nostalgic, oh and as for the design, just because it’s referred to as a “clamshell” doesn’t mean it actually has to look like one.

Anyway, rant over. I still am a loyal BlackBerry fan as this hasn’t persuaded me to jump ship, thankfully RIM preceded this with the Torch to keep me interested.
